Gas delivery and acceptance

Nitrogen Generator Dew Point: Specify Delivered Gas

Suitable feed air protects the separation system, but it does not by itself establish the moisture condition of nitrogen at the receiving connection.

State the product-gas moisture requirement

Ask the receiving process owner to define the accepted nitrogen moisture condition and where it applies. If dew point is used, specify the relevant pressure and reporting basis. A number without that context can mislead a bid comparison. Avoid substituting an air-dryer catalogue value for an accepted product-gas limit, particularly when downstream equipment and changing operating states are outside the dryer supplier’s scope.

Keep air preparation and nitrogen delivery separate

The feed-air treatment requirement belongs at the separation inlet and protects the selected generation equipment. The nitrogen delivery requirement belongs at the accepted product boundary. Link the two through the offered arrangement without assuming they are identical. Ask the integrator to identify any downstream treatment or contamination exposure that affects the commitment, including the actual booster and storage arrangement where supplied.

Request a representative measurement plan

Identify sampling location, sample handling and the method used to demonstrate the moisture condition. Ask how the provider will avoid presenting a convenient isolated reading as representative of the accepted duty. The test plan should state relevant pressure, temperature, stability and measurement limitations. Retain the distinction between an installed indication, a sample-based check and a supplier calculation supporting an untested operating case.

Cover storage and interrupted operation

Include the purchaser’s actual operating schedule in the review. Idle periods, maintenance and restart can create conditions different from stable production. Ask the supplier which states its moisture commitment covers and what evidence is proposed for the remaining cases. Do not infer an approved startup or purge procedure from a buying guide. The actual equipment and project instructions govern gas release and operation.

Price the scope that closes the requirement

If a bid meets feed-air requirements but leaves delivered nitrogen moisture uncommitted, request a technical response before judging price. Additional treatment, instruments or service provisions may be needed, depending on the reviewed configuration. Record included elements and replacement references. A tighter requirement can affect usable output and resources, so evaluate the resulting complete gas duty rather than add a dryer option in isolation.

Resolve exclusions before comparing price

A moisture commitment can be limited to a particular operating state or equipment boundary. Ask the supplier to mark that limit on the same sheet as the accepted nitrogen duty. If the receiving process needs a wider commitment, obtain the additional technical and commercial scope rather than treat the narrower quoted value as equivalent to the complete project requirement.

Retain the pressure basis with every moisture value

Use the same moisture convention in the RFQ, supplier response, factory plan and handover records. Keep readings linked to the sampling location and actual operating conditions. Changes in booster, storage or treatment scope require review of the delivery commitment. This preserves a meaningful comparison between the promised gas condition and the evidence supplied, without confusing protection of the generator with acceptance by the process.

Suggested wording for the quotation request

State the delivered nitrogen moisture commitment at the agreed connection, including dew-point pressure basis or another accepted convention. Separately identify feed-air treatment requirements and downstream equipment. Describe measurement location, method, relevant operating states and limitations. Price any additional product-gas treatment and verification provisions, and show their effect on usable flow and support requirements.

Specify the nitrogen generation truck against accepted gas quality, usable flow, delivery pressure and duration at one identified boundary. Keep the actual feed-air compressor, treatment, separation technology, drive and any booster or buffer in the same review. Record volume reference conditions, environmental assumptions and external responsibilities. Separate catalogue maxima do not establish simultaneous delivery, and a photograph does not identify all included components. On-site generation is not liquid-nitrogen pumping or vaporization. Actual operation, maintenance and gas handling require competent personnel, configuration-specific manufacturer information and approved project procedures.

For the wider equipment scope, consult the Nitrogen Truck Feed Air: Moisture, Oil and Filtration. Use the RFQ checklist to collect the supporting documents before requesting a configuration-specific quotation.

Buyer questions

Does an air-dryer rating prove nitrogen delivery dew point?

No. Review the complete path to the product boundary and obtain delivered-gas evidence on the specified pressure basis.

Can two dew-point numbers be compared without pressure information?

Not reliably. Preserve the reporting convention and pressure basis before comparing the offers.

Background and supplier contact

NIST metrological traceability background offers related background, not certification of the equipment in a quotation. Applicability must be checked for the project and destination.
